Vesak Day is the day Buddhists remember the birth, the enlightenment, and the passing away of the Buddha. The United Nations observe the day of Vesak at its headquarters and offices, worldwide. As Buddhism spread from India, it was adapted and celebrated in many different ways in various countries. 550 million people in the world identify Buddhism as their religion or way of life. Buddhist practitioners are encouraged to reiterate their determination to lead noble lives, to practice loving-kindness and to bring peace of mind to themselves and peace to the world.


Vesak, Festival of Peace and Compassion

Multicultural Vesak Festival” in Ottawa is a 100 % volunteers driven community based not-for-profit event made possible through the generous support of our friends, volunteer and sponsors.


Vesak in Ottawa provides a venue for the community to come together to celebrate the Vesak Festival and Asian heritage Month celebrations.

Every year various groups support the events and the location changed as more crowds of close to 200 gathered at Cambodian Buddhist temple in Ottawa for “Vesak in Ottawa” to enjoy the 2013 event.

  • The need was identified to have “Buddhist” temple sign to advise drivers of the location of the Buddhist temples in Canada’s Capital. The request made by Chairman of Sirin, Visita Leelaratna for both road signs and OC transpo to include location of Buddhist temples in Ottawa.
  • Our focus is to educate the affluent at the same time help the economically disadvantage people.
  • We serve all with compassion and promote peace through Education.
  • Friendship Dinner for future Collaboration
